Located near the Southwestern border of Fairfield County, Connecticut lies the historic and beautiful town of New Canaan. Originally established in 1731 as a religious gathering place, known as Canaan Parish, the formation was designated by colonials for the use of nearby Norwalk and Stamford residents. After the Revolutionary War, the quiet agricultural community of Canaan Parish developed into a leader in the shoemaking industry. Due to the recent population growth and economic boost, New Canaan was officially incorporated as a town in 1801. In 1868, the introduction of the railroad helped to connect the growing town to all the nearby major cities.
Today, New Canaan is home to over 20,000 residents spread across 22.5 square miles of land. The most notable features for the residents and visitors are the modern architectural designs, the beautiful parks, and access to the Long Island Sound. The recreational and historical sections of the town have provided the area with a strong economy, a nationally recognized school system, and wonderful events for locals to take part in. With much to see and do, the community of New Canaan has become the place for many to call home.
